Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine was founded in 1975 by several local veterinarians to improve their abilities to practice veterinary medicine by centralizing staff, equipment, facilities & ideas. We are a small animal practice, meaning our primary focus is on cats and dogs. Over 200 veterinarians annually refer patients to us for emergency and specialty care. We are committed to providing the highest standard of vet care whenever you may need it 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
Recently we moved from our long-time location in downtown New Haven, CT to a new larger facility in North Haven, CT. This move allows us to provide you with expanded medical services (EMS) in a more comfortable environment, with plenty of parking, a large reception area & an enclosed state-of-the-art walking area for hospitalized dogs.
Central Hospital has two locations in North Haven and Guilford, CT minutes from New Haven, Yale University, and the Connecticut shoreline. Started as an emergency center in 1974 in downtown New Haven (NH), we expanded to our current 20,000 sq. ft.+ facility in 2013. Our in-house staff comprises over 30 doctors, over half of whom are board-certified specialists. Our vets are supported by a diverse hospital team of specialized technicians, certified technicians, assistants, & administrators.
