About Dr Chad West Veterinarian
Doctor West is a 2001 graduate of the Vet School at the University of Florida. Upon graduation, Dr. West accomplished a rotating internship at The AMC, followed by a residency in neurology and neurosurgery at Washington State University, under the tutelage of Dr. Rod Bagley. At the time, Washington State University was the only veterinary school with in-house MRI capabilities solely for animal imaging. Dr. West is a self-proclaimed conservative surgeon who does surgery aggressively when necessary. Surgery is often pursued unnecessarily and without evidential support for the procedure. His primary interests are in diagnostic MRI and finding non-surgical options for complicated neurological diseases. When medical options are not feasible or in the best interest of a patient, Dr. West enjoys performing and tuition advanced neurosurgical procedures. Dr. West has been a Senior Veterinarian at The AMC since 2005 when he became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in Neurology.
